The EFESO Project

EFESO, an acronym for “Exploiting Flexible pErovskites Solar technOlogies,” is more than just a project; it’s a bold vision to bring perovskite technology on flexible substrates to the threshold of commercialization.

A Pathway to Commercializing Flexible Perovskite Solar Technology

The primary goal here is to push the boundaries of renewable energy by upscaling stable Flexible Perovskite Solar Modules (FPSMs), optimizing their fabrication process, reducing inactive areas, and innovating lead (Pb) trapping techniques.

A Guided Overview

The EFESO project is systematically structured into three main parts, each addressing vital aspects of development.

Materials

Our journey begins with the careful assessment of flexible substrates, additives, and interface layers. Here, the focus is on selecting the best and most stable layer for device fabrication, laying a strong foundation for the next stages.

Device

This phase emphasizes the creation and characterization of devices, centering on lead-trapping strategies. Through encapsulation and interface engineering, we work to ensure both safety and effectiveness.

Upscaling

Finally, the EFESO project focuses on optimizing the design and laser processes of P1-P2-P3 for indoor and outdoor applications. By standardizing the connections of cells, we reduce losses in large-area devices.

Achievable Goals and Standards

Advancing Efficiency and Safety in Solar Technology

Our target is to achieve up to 21% and 18% power conversion efficiency in FPSMs on areas greater than 10cm² and 200cm². We aim for 23% and 35% performance on small devices at varying intensities. Additionally, all devices will pass stringent ISOS D-L-T-1 tests and display a significant reduction in lead leakage.
